# Model registry

> The cluster-wide (provider, tier) → model table the smart router falls through when a config does not pin a model.

The model registry maps a **provider** and a **strength tier** to a model id. When an [LLM config](/models/llm-configs) has no `model` (or is not pinned), the smart router uses this table, then the cluster default.

Tiers:

| Tier | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `1` | Strongest — matches **Advanced reasoning** on the LLM router screen |
| `2` | Balanced |
| `3` | Smallest / fastest |

## List and set

```bash theme={null}
nasiko model-registry ls
nasiko model-registry ls --json
nasiko model-registry set --provider openai --tier 3 --model gpt-4o-mini
```

`set` is **superuser only**. `ls` is available to any authenticated user.

## API

| Method | Path | Who |
| - | - | - |
| `GET` | `/api/model-registry` | Authenticated |
| `PUT` | `/api/model-registry` | Superuser |

Body for `PUT`: `provider`, `tier`, `model`.

The dashboard LLM router screen writes reasoning-level models into your LLM config library. The model registry is the cluster-wide fallback underneath that library, not a second place to assign per-agent models.
